This was a local project on University of Tennessee’s campus: McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture. We were tasked with helping to update the museum and design an exhibit, new or redesign an existing one.
Throughout the semester, the archaeology exhibit was the most thought-out exhibit when it was first designed. To bring people into the space more the exhibit would be changed to a different space and become an interactive space where the visitors are inside a large dig site. Artifacts are placed inside sifters that are used in digs. The main idea was to take one dig site from the area and replicate it within the museum, in similar locations to where it was originally found. There would even be a small dig pit with rubber for children to play in without causing a mess.
